Facilty RentalsIn addition to the many amenities at the RecPlex, 21 acres of park land surround the facility. Three ponds and numerous play fields and a historic log cabin restored to its original form circa 1802. We have an event board at the vehicle entrance to the park and three post boards within the park that lists the park policies, current park events and a map of the walking trail. The park is used extensively for outdoor programs, youth sport leagues, summer camps and the Woodland Lights program.

Cabin

The Abraham A. Roades' home was moved in 1984 from its original site in Brushcreek Township, Highland County, 10 miles southeast of Hillsboro, Ohio on Sinking Springs Road (now Route 124) at the southwest corner of Stanley Road.

The cabin was built by Abraham A Roades about 1802. It was discovered as the original part of a house in 1981. The log portion and several additions had been covered with lap siding (this attributed to the good condition the logs are now in). The cabin was donated to the South Suburban YMCA (now Washington Township RecPlex) by Grace and Robert Beischel. Tom Stolz rebuilt the cabin on this site.

Path

The path that runs through Countryside Park is a 1.3 mile gravel trail. Whether you are walking or jogging, the path can help with your exercise goals while you enjoy the beautiful scenery in the process.

We are a dog friendly park. There are pet stations located in the park with disposable "duty" bags for pet handlers use. We require that you pick up after your pet and keep your dog on a leash at all times.

Ponds

There are three ponds located within the boundaries of Countryside Park. Turtle Pond is located by the A-Frame shelter, closest to State Route 725. Heron Pond is located directly behind the RecPlex and can be seen from the pool area. Bass Lake is located in the Northeast Section of the Park, with many tall reeds and an observation deck. Fishing is allowed by those 16 and older with a fishing license. Youth 15 and younger do not need a license. Rules are posted in several locations around the park. For the safety and well being of all patrons, please read and follow the postings.

A-Frame Shelter (Capacity - 40)

The A-Frame Shelter is located to the East of the RecPlex, at the front of Countryside Park. The shelter holds approximately 40 people, picnic tables, green space, and a playground. The shelter may only be reserved by Washington Township/Centerville Residents.

Please note: those patrons who have reserved the shelter, and have their reservation form, will have priority to use the shelter over all other visitors at the park.

Resident Rentals - $0
(ONLY residents may rent this space)

Stolz Building

The Stolz Building is located to the rear of the RecPlex. This building was the original landscape office and apartments for Thomas Stolz, the man who donated the twenty-six acre property to the Township now known as Countryside Park.

The rooms in the Stolz Building are used for art classes during the program year, for camps in the summer and for Woodland Lights activities and window displays during the month of December. There are parking spaces available for classes. During the summer camp season and during Woodland Lights driving to this building is not an option for the safety of our program participants. This building is not available for use other than specified RecPlex classes.

Sports Fields

We have 3 area that are open spaces for outdoor sports programming. The main field has a backstop for baseball/softball and a set of semi-permanent full size soccer goals. The other two open spaces are fully grassed and can be set up for sports programs. These fields are used on a first-come, first-serve basis when no Washington Township programs are taking place.
